Taking a Little Time Off

For those of you who regularly follow this site, you have probably noticed that I’m not posting or podcasting as frequently.  The reason is pretty simple – I’ve been focusing all of my time on a new product release for my other business.

I’m in the middle of completing a software release (planned for June) that I’ve been working on for over three years.  Since I’m a one person business, that means not only cleaning up the remaining bugs in the software so it can be sent out but also doing all of the business, marketing and promotional work.

The nice part about this is that the new software will, in a few months, become a largely passive income stream as the ordering fulfillment is largely automated, and support requirements have been moderate.  However, at the moment I’m in a “work hard now, so I can enjoy it later” mode.

Does that mean I plan to abandon Online Business Zen?  No – it simply means I’m following the pareto principle for the moment and focusing my efforts where the largest returns lie.  My main business provides most of my income, and has a large existing user base – and the time spent now on the software release will likely generate income for many years to come.

I do plan to continue to post here periodically, and will likely start podcasting again this summer once the product release has settled.  In fact, I will probably share many of the lessons learned with you – as this is my largest product launch to date.

So while I may be posting and podcasting erratically for a few months, I hope you will enjoy browsing some of my past posts and podcasts.  Thank you for your patience!
